• The Tennessee Junior Sheep Expo, held August 13-15 at the Wilson County – Tennessee State Fair. Youth from 36 counties across the state showed nearly 500 head of sheep and competed in skillathon, showmanship, and premier exhibitor classes as well as educational contests in career development, photography, poster, sales talk, and graphic design.
• A trailblazing salute to 17 agricultural and forestry leaders who gathered to celebrate the graduation from the inaugural Tennessee Agriculture and Forestry Leadership Program (TAFLP). Our own Tennessee Farmers Cooperative directors Matthew Miller, Benjie Daniel, and Robert Thompson were in the group of graduates.
• An update on changes in Tennessee fall deer hunting with the arrival of the new Deer Bait Privilege License. TWRA Officer Dusten Moffitt and TWRA Public Relations Coordinator Barry Cross visit with representatives from Tennessee Farmers Cooperative to tell us all about the importance of deer hunting and offer tips for making safe, lasting memories with friends and family.
• An expansion of the La Vergne ProTrition feed mill and its $6.4 million investment supported by $1 million AgTrack grant from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.
